Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sliced fruit (pineapple, apples, or berries)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan, and once melted, stir in the brown sugar until fully dissolved.
  3. Pour this mixture into a greased round cake pan.
  4. Arrange your sliced fruit evenly over the caramel sauce.
  5. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  6. In another bowl, combine the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  7. Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
  8. Pour the batter over the fruit, gently smoothing the top if necessary.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Allow the cake to cool for about 10 minutes before inverting it onto a serving plate.
