Description
A vibrant and quick dish showcasing shrimp sautéed with zesty lime and a splash of tequila, perfect for weeknight dinners or festive gatherings.
Ingredients
- 12 oz (350g) shrimp (peeled and deveined)
- 2 pinches salt
- 3 dashes ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 tablespoons tequila
- 1 1/2 tablespoon lime juice
- 1 tablespoon cilantro leaves (chopped)
Instructions
- Season the shrimp: In a bowl, gently season the shrimp with salt, pepper, and paprika to taste.
- Heat the skillet: Warm a skillet, ideally cast iron, over medium-high heat, and pour in the olive oil.
- Sauté garlic: Add minced garlic to the skillet, stirring for about 30 seconds, letting its fragrance fill the air.
- Cook the shrimp: Next, throw in the shrimp and cook them until they take on a lovely char—approximately 2-3 minutes on each side.
- Add tequila: Carefully drizzle tequila over the shrimp and toss everything a couple of times in the skillet to mix.
- Finish with lime: Finally, pour in the lime juice, stirring to combine all the flavors.
- Garnish: Turn off the heat and add chopped cilantro for that fresh touch. Serve promptly with your choice of side.
Notes
For a smoky flavor, consider using smoked paprika instead of regular paprika. You can also substitute tequila with white wine or omit it entirely. Serve with Mexican rice or warm tortillas.
