Description
A comforting plate of Spaghetti Bolognese featuring a rich meaty sauce served over perfectly cooked pasta, perfect for weeknight dinners or gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef (or turkey for a lighter option)
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 carrot, grated or finely chopped
- 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 12 oz (340g) spaghetti
- Grated Parmesan cheese for serving
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Sauté for about 5 minutes until softened.
- Increase the heat to medium-high, and add the ground meat. Cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 20-30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Serve the Bolognese sauce over the spaghetti and finish with a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese.
Notes
For a vegetarian option, substitute ground beef with lentils or finely chopped mushrooms. Fresh herbs can enhance flavor.
