A simple and delightful homemade strawberry sauce perfect for topping desserts or pancakes.
Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Combine the sliced strawberries and granulated sugar in a medium saucepan and allow it to rest for 10-15 minutes.
- Add the lemon juice and vanilla extract to the mixture.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally and let the sauce simmer until it thickens slightly, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let the sauce cool down.
- Serve the sauce over cheesecake, pound cake, or ice cream.
Notes
For a thicker sauce, simmer a little longer and feel free to adjust sweetness to taste.
