Description

A comforting one-pan chicken dish smothered in homemade gravy, reminiscent of Sunday dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breasts
  • Salt, pepper, and garlic powder for seasoning
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon each: salt, pepper, oregano, thyme
  • 1 teaspoon each: paprika, onion powder, garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Cut chicken breasts in half lengthwise and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  2. In a skillet, melt butter over medium-high heat, then mix in flour to create a roux.
  3. Pour in chicken broth, whisk to combine, and add the seasonings.
  4. Once bubbling, add seasoned chicken to skillet, pressing down into gravy.
  5. Cover and cook for 12-15 minutes until chicken reaches 165°F.
  6. Shred chicken in the pan and stir to combine with gravy.

Notes

Feel free to substitute chicken thighs for breasts and use gluten-free flour for a gluten-free version. Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or biscuits.
