Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 can (20 oz) pineapple slices (drained)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • Maraschino cherries (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt the butter: In a small saucepan, melt the butter and mix in the brown sugar. Stir until fully combined.
  3. Pour into baking dish: Spread the butter-sugar mixture evenly across a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  4. Arrange pineapple: Place the drained pineapple slices on top of the mixture. If desired, place a Maraschino cherry in the center of each pineapple slice.
  5. Prepare cake mix: In a mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and water. Mix until smooth.
  6. Pour cake batter: Gently pour the cake batter over the pineapple and sugar layer in the baking dish.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool and invert: Let the cake cool for a few minutes, then carefully invert onto a serving platter.

Notes
