A delightful dessert featuring caramelized pineapple and cherries, perfect for family gatherings and celebrations.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 can (15 ounces) pineapple slices, drained
- Maraschino cherries
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Melt the butter in a round cake pan while it’s in the oven. Once melted, add the brown sugar and stir until well blended.
- Arrange the pineapple slices and maraschino cherries on top of the sugar mixture in the pan.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until the batter is smooth and well combined.
- Pour the batter over the layered pineapple and cherries in the pan, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool for a few minutes before carefully inverting the cake onto a serving plate. Enjoy it warm!
Notes
Best served warm, optionally dusted with powdered sugar or paired with vanilla ice cream.
