Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 can (15 ounces) pineapple slices, drained
  • Maraschino cherries
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt the butter in a round cake pan while it’s in the oven. Once melted, add the brown sugar and stir until well blended.
  3. Arrange the pineapple slices and maraschino cherries on top of the sugar mixture in the pan.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Add the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until the batter is smooth and well combined.
  6. Pour the batter over the layered pineapple and cherries in the pan, spreading it evenly.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool for a few minutes before carefully inverting the cake onto a serving plate. Enjoy it warm!
