This Juicy Pan Seared Chicken Breast recipe delivers beautifully golden, tender, and juicy chicken in less than 30 minutes with minimal fuss.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breast (3-4 breasts)
- 2-3 tablespoons butter (about 1 tablespoon per breast)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon chili powder
- ½ teaspoon cumin
- ½ teaspoon dried thyme
- ½ teaspoon ground mustard
- ½ teaspoon dried basil
- ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- ¼ teaspoon sea salt
- ¼ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon brown sugar
Instructions
- Prepare the seasoning by mixing all seasoning ingredients in a small bowl and set aside.
- Tenderize the chicken by pounding it to an even thickness of about 1 to 1.5 inches.
- Season both sides of the chicken breasts generously with the prepared seasoning.
- Heat ½ tablespoon of butter in a nonstick pan over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Flip the chicken, add another ½ tablespoon of butter if desired, cover, reduce heat to medium, and cook until chicken reaches an internal temperature of 160°F.
- Remove from heat and let rest for about 5 minutes.
- Slice against the grain and serve as desired.
Notes
For meal prep, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. This chicken also freezes well for up to 3 months.
