Description

A vibrant and flavorful Italian-Style Grilled Octopus, perfect for impressing guests or enjoying a summer evening.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole octopus
  • 2 lemons (one for juicing and one for wedges)
  • Olive oil
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Fresh herbs (such as parsley or oregano, optional)

Instructions

  1. Clean the octopus thoroughly, removing any debris.
  2. Bring salted water to a boil in a large pot. Once boiling, add the octopus and cook for about 40-50 minutes until tender.
  3. Remove the octopus from the pot and let it cool slightly.
  4. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  5. Cut the octopus into manageable pieces.
  6. Brush each piece with olive oil and season generously with salt and pepper.
  7. Grill the octopus pieces for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until nicely charred and heated through.
  8. Serve with lemon wedges, drizzled with more olive oil, and topped with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

Boiling the octopus with a wine cork can help tenderize the meat. Don’t rush the grilling process to achieve a nice char.
