Description
A vibrant and flavorful Italian-Style Grilled Octopus, perfect for impressing guests or enjoying a summer evening.
Ingredients
- 1 whole octopus
- 2 lemons (one for juicing and one for wedges)
- Olive oil
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Fresh herbs (such as parsley or oregano, optional)
Instructions
- Clean the octopus thoroughly, removing any debris.
- Bring salted water to a boil in a large pot. Once boiling, add the octopus and cook for about 40-50 minutes until tender.
- Remove the octopus from the pot and let it cool slightly.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- Cut the octopus into manageable pieces.
- Brush each piece with olive oil and season generously with salt and pepper.
- Grill the octopus pieces for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until nicely charred and heated through.
- Serve with lemon wedges, drizzled with more olive oil, and topped with fresh herbs if desired.
Notes
Boiling the octopus with a wine cork can help tenderize the meat. Don’t rush the grilling process to achieve a nice char.
