Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp butter for greasing
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried rosemary
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a baking dish with butter to prevent sticking.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes evenly in the dish.
  4. Sprinkle half of the cheddar cheese, followed by half of the thyme, rosemary, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Repeat the layering process with the remaining potatoes, cheese, and spices.
  6. Pour the heavy cream evenly over the top.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
  9. Allow it to rest for 5 minutes before serving to let those flavors meld beautifully.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for the heavy cream. Consider different cheeses like Gruyère or mozzarella for a unique twist.
