Ingredients
- 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp butter for greasing
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp dried rosemary
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Grease a baking dish with butter to prevent sticking.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes evenly in the dish.
- Sprinkle half of the cheddar cheese, followed by half of the thyme, rosemary, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Repeat the layering process with the remaining potatoes, cheese, and spices.
- Pour the heavy cream evenly over the top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Allow it to rest for 5 minutes before serving to let those flavors meld beautifully.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for the heavy cream. Consider different cheeses like Gruyère or mozzarella for a unique twist.
