Description

A quick and flavorful honey garlic chicken dish that combines tender chicken breast with a glossy, sweet-savory sauce, ready in just 12 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 500g (1 lb) boneless, skinless chicken breast (about 2 large pieces)
  • Salt and pepper for seasoning
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour (or cornstarch for gluten-free)
  • 3½ tablespoons (50g) unsalted butter (or 2½ tablespoons olive oil)
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1½ tablespoons apple cider vinegar (or any clear vinegar)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • ⅓ cup honey (or maple syrup)

Instructions

  1. Cut each chicken breast in half horizontally to create four thinner cutlets. Season them with salt and pepper.
  2. Coat each cutlet in flour, shaking off excess to create a light, even coating.
  3. Melt most of the butter in a skillet over high heat. Add the chicken cutlets and cook for 2-3 minutes on the first side until golden brown, then flip and cook for 1 minute on the other side.
  4. Lower the heat to medium-high, push the chicken to the sides of the pan, and add the minced garlic and reserved butter. Stir briefly until fragrant.
  5. Add vinegar, soy sauce, and honey to the pan, stirring to combine and let it simmer for about 1 minute until thickened.
  6. Turn the chicken to coat in the sauce, adding water if the sauce becomes too thick. Ensure the chicken is cooked through at 165°F (75°C).
  7. Remove from heat and serve immediately, drizzling with any remaining sauce.

Notes

Brining chicken breast for a few hours enhances moisture. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
