Indulge in these healthy, fudgy brownies made without flour, eggs, or refined sugar, featuring rich flavors and a satisfying texture.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2/3 cup almond butter
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons coconut sugar or brown sugar substitute
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1 cup healthy frosting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line an 8×8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the unsweetened applesauce, almond butter, and maple syrup until smooth.
  3. Add the coconut sugar, cocoa powder, salt, baking soda, and vanilla extract. Mix gently until just combined.
  4. If using, fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  6. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, checking for a toothpick to come out with moist crumbs.
  7. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before cutting.
  8. Optionally, add frosting once cool and slice into squares before serving.

Notes

Store brownies at room temperature for up to three days or in the refrigerator for a week. They freeze well for up to six months.
