- 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 2/3 cup almond butter
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons coconut sugar or brown sugar substitute
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
- 1 cup healthy frosting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line an 8×8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the unsweetened applesauce, almond butter, and maple syrup until smooth.
- Add the coconut sugar, cocoa powder, salt, baking soda, and vanilla extract. Mix gently until just combined.
- If using, fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, checking for a toothpick to come out with moist crumbs.
- Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before cutting.
- Optionally, add frosting once cool and slice into squares before serving.
