Description

A vibrant and flavorful Grilled Octopus Salad that showcases the best of Mediterranean cuisine, featuring tender grilled octopus, fresh greens, and a zesty dressing.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs fresh octopus
  • 1 lemon (juiced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Mixed greens (arugula, spinach, etc.)
  • Cherry tomatoes (halved)
  • Cucumber (sliced)
  • Optional garnish: parsley or microgreens

Instructions

  1. Clean the octopus: Rinse the octopus under cold water to remove any impurities.
  2. Marinate: In a bowl, mix lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, paprika, salt, and pepper. Add the octopus, ensuring it’s evenly coated. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high. Place the marinated octopus directly on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until charred and tender.
  4. Chop: Remove the octopus from the grill and let it cool slightly. Cut it into bite-sized pieces.
  5. Assemble salad: In a large bowl, combine mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, and grilled octopus. Drizzle with extra olive oil and lemon juice if desired.
  6. Serve: Plate elegantly and garnish with parsley or microgreens for a pop of color.

Notes

For extra tender octopus, consider boiling it for a few minutes before grilling. This salad can easily scale for larger gatherings; simply multiply your ingredients and adjust the grilling time as needed.
