Ingredients
- Button or portobello mushrooms
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Vegetable or canola oil for frying
Instructions
- Clean the mushrooms: Wipe them with a damp cloth and trim the stems.
- Beat the eggs: In a bowl, whisk the eggs until smooth.
- Make the flour mix: In another shallow bowl, combine flour, salt, and pepper.
- Prepare the breading: Set up a third bowl for bread crumbs.
- Bread the mushrooms: Dip each mushroom first into the flour mixture, then into the beaten eggs, and finally coat them evenly with bread crumbs.
- Heat the oil: In a pan, heat oil over medium heat until hot.
- Fry the mushrooms: Fry the breaded mushrooms in batches until they’re golden brown, roughly 3-4 minutes each side.
- Drain and serve: Remove them from the oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve while hot.
