Ingredients
- 2 cups sushi rice
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Nori sheets (dried seaweed)
- Fillings: cucumber, avocado, crab, shrimp, or tofu
- Soy sauce (for dipping)
- Wasabi and pickled ginger (optional)
Instructions
- Rinse the rice: Wash 2 cups of sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- Cook the rice: In a rice cooker or saucepan, combine the rinsed rice with 2 cups of water and cook.
- Season the rice: Transfer the cooked rice to a bowl, mix with rice vinegar, sugar, and salt.
- Prepare your fillings: Slice your chosen fillings into thin strips.
- Assemble: Place a nori sheet on a bamboo mat, wet hands, and spread rice.
- Add fillings across the middle of the rice.
- Roll it up: Start rolling and seal the edge with water.
- Slice: Slice the roll into bite-sized pieces.
Notes
Serve fresh with a side of soy sauce. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
