Description

An easy, comforting meatloaf topped with a sweet-tangy glaze, perfect for satisfying weeknight dinners.


Ingredients

  • pounds ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup dried bread crumbs (plain or Italian seasoned)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ⅓ cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons prepared mustard (yellow or Dijon)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, chopped onion, milk, bread crumbs, and egg. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Press the meat mixture evenly into your prepared loaf pan.
  4. In a small bowl, stir together the ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard. Spread this mixture over the top of the meatloaf.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, or until the meatloaf is no longer pink in the center.
  6. Let the meatloaf rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

For added flavor, sauté the onions before combining. Variations include using Italian seasoned breadcrumbs or adding sautéed vegetables.
