Description
An easy, comforting meatloaf topped with a sweet-tangy glaze, perfect for satisfying weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
- 1½ pounds ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 1 large egg
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup dried bread crumbs (plain or Italian seasoned)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ⅓ cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons prepared mustard (yellow or Dijon)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, chopped onion, milk, bread crumbs, and egg. Season with salt and pepper.
- Press the meat mixture evenly into your prepared loaf pan.
- In a small bowl, stir together the ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard. Spread this mixture over the top of the meatloaf.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, or until the meatloaf is no longer pink in the center.
- Let the meatloaf rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
For added flavor, sauté the onions before combining. Variations include using Italian seasoned breadcrumbs or adding sautéed vegetables.
