Description
This creamy garlic chicken is a restaurant-quality dish that comes together in just 30 minutes, featuring tender chicken cutlets in a rich garlic cream sauce.
Ingredients
- 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts (cut in half lengthwise for 4 cutlets)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- All-purpose flour for dredging
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter, divided
- 1 whole head of garlic, cloves peeled (about 10-12 cloves)
- ½ cup chicken broth or stock
- ½ teaspoon fresh lemon juice
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 cup heavy cream or whipping cream
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the chicken: Slice each chicken breast in half lengthwise to create four thinner cutlets. Season both sides with salt and pepper, then lightly coat each piece in flour, shaking off any excess.
- Sear the chicken: Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken cutlets and cook for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- Cook the garlic: Reduce heat to medium and add remaining butter. Add the peeled garlic cloves and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring until lightly browned.
- Build the sauce: Pour in chicken broth, lemon juice, and garlic powder. Scrape up browned bits and let bubble for about 4 minutes until reduced by half.
- Finish with cream: Stir in heavy cream and return chicken to the pan, simmer for another 5 minutes or until sauce thickens and chicken reaches 165°F.
- Serve: Garnish with parsley if desired and serve the chicken with the sauce spooned over the top.
Notes
This dish pairs wonderfully with mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta. Use larger chicken breasts for better cutlets, and remember, the roasted garlic cloves are a key feature!
