Description
A comforting baked chicken dish layered with Swiss cheese, a creamy wine-enriched sauce, and topped with crispy herb-seasoned stuffing.
Ingredients
- 6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 6 slices Swiss cheese (about 6 ounces total)
- 1 can (10.75 ounces) cream of chicken soup, undiluted
- ¾ cup dry white wine or water
- 1½ cups herb-seasoned stuffing mix, crushed
- ¾ cup (1½ sticks) butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 13×9-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
- Layer chicken breasts in the baking dish. Top each breast with a slice of Swiss cheese.
- In a medium bowl, mix the cream of chicken soup and wine until smooth.
- Spoon the soup mixture over the chicken and cheese.
- Sprinkle the crushed stuffing mix over the entire dish and drizzle with melted butter.
- Bake uncovered for 50-60 minutes, until chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F and the stuffing is golden brown. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a variation, use different cheeses or stuffing flavors. This dish can be assembled a day ahead and refrigerated.
