  • 2 lbs russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter for greasing the baking dish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and thyme (if using).
  3. Place a layer of sliced potatoes at the bottom of the dish, slightly overlapping each slice.
  4. Pour a portion of your creamy mixture over the potatoes, followed by a handful of cheddar and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
  5. Repeat this layering until all ingredients are used, making sure to finish with cream and cheese on top.
  6. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  7. After 45 minutes, uncover and bake for another 15 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
  8. Once done, let cool slightly before serving.
