Description
A classic comfort dish of creamy, cheesy scalloped potatoes that’s perfect for gatherings and holiday celebrations.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme (optional)
- 1 tablespoon butter for greasing the baking dish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and thyme (if using).
- Place a layer of sliced potatoes at the bottom of the dish, slightly overlapping each slice.
- Pour a portion of your creamy mixture over the potatoes, followed by a handful of cheddar and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
- Repeat this layering until all ingredients are used, making sure to finish with cream and cheese on top.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- After 45 minutes, uncover and bake for another 15 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Once done, let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a 350°F (175°C) oven for about 20 minutes.
