Description
A delicious twist on traditional burgers, featuring seasoned beef, crispy roasted potatoes, melty cheese, and a creamy burger sauce, all in a tidy bowl for easy eating.
Ingredients
- 1 lb Potatoes (cubed, about 2 cm / ¾ inch)
- 2 tbsp Olive oil (for potatoes)
- Salt and black pepper (to taste)
- 2 tbsp Olive oil (for cooking beef)
- 1 Onion (finely diced)
- 1 lb Lean ground beef
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Sweet paprika
- 1 tsp Onion powder
- 1 tsp Garlic powder
- 1 tsp Black pepper
- ½ cup Whole-egg mayonnaise
- ¼ cup Finely chopped gherkins/pickles
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 2 tbsp Ketchup
- 1 tsp Sweet paprika
- 1 tsp Onion powder
- 1 tsp Garlic powder
- Water (to thin sauce)
- 1 Romaine/cos lettuce (sliced)
- 1 cup Shredded cheddar (or burger cheese)
- 1 cup Cherry tomatoes (halved)
- ½ Red onion (thinly sliced)
- Pickle slices (to serve)
Instructions
- Heat the oven to 220°C / 425°F (200°C fan).
- Spread potatoes out on a large baking dish/sheet pan (don’t overlap). Toss with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Roast about 40 minutes, flipping halfway, until crisp and golden.
- In a large pan, heat olive oil over medium-high. Sauté onion 1–2 minutes until softened. Add beef and cook 4–5 minutes, breaking it up, until starting to brown. Stir in salt, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and pepper; cook for 1 more minute.
- Mix mayo, chopped pickles, Dijon, ketchup, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder. Add water 1 tablespoon at a time until it’s drizzle-able.
- Add lettuce to bowls. Top with potatoes, beef, cheese, tomatoes, red onion, and pickles. Drizzle generously with burger sauce.
Notes
Best eaten right after assembling for maximum crispiness. Store components separately: potatoes up to 3 days, cooked beef up to 3-4 days, and sauce up to 3 days.
